NEBUCHADNEZZAR – DANGEROUS SELFIES

Pride is a two-edged sword. It can be a feeling of satisfaction that what you’ve done is good – taking pride in your work – or it can easily tip over to a feeling of superiority and arrogance that makes you feel better than anyone else. It’s a fine line between the two.

Get God in
Nebuchadnezzar could have been satisfied with all his achievements, and he had many, but instead he became superior and delusional. He’d forgotten who to give thanks to and took too many selfies, leaving God out of the picture.

It’s good to feel that you have done a good job, that you have given your very best, that no one could ask any more of you, but if that turns into arrogance, smugness and self-importance then we have become god and forgotten who really deserves that title.

Get God into the picture and keep him there. Whether it’s a DIY project at home, a project at work or a reward for what you have achieved. Remember who to give thanks to, who deserves the highest praise. When you do that you keep your mind clear.

Remember that a Pride is a group of lions. Dangerous and destructive. ‘Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack.’ (1 Peter 5:8) Don’t let pride cause you to fall.
